Socket tester: check your socket's earthing in seconds
With the socket tester, you can check whether a socket is wired properly and correctly earthed without any technical knowledge – before you connect a grounding sheet, a grounding mat or a grounding yoga mat. Ideal at home, in a hotel or in a holiday flat.

Grounding means that your body makes conductive contact with the earth's natural electrical potential. In everyday life we are often insulated by rubber soles, floors and mattresses. Grounding products make it easier to bring this connection into your routine.

Wait for the feedback signal. If all three LEDs light up, everything is fine.
Important
Test your socket in three steps.
Only use a grounding sheet or grounding mat with a socket that has a working earth contact. You can check this in a minute with a socket tester, for example the Wurzler™ socket tester (€14,90).

Look at the socket.
Can you see two metal clips at the edge of the opening? Then it is an earthed (Schuko) socket. Without these clips the socket is not suitable.

Plug in the tester.
The lights on the socket tester show whether live, neutral and earth are connected correctly. With the Wurzler™ socket tester: if all three LEDs light up, the socket is fine. With a different tester: see its instructions.

Unsure? Have it checked.
Does the tester show a fault, or are you unsure? Then don’t use this socket and have it checked by a qualified electrician.
Man muss den Steckdosentester in der richtigen Position einstecken. Wenn 180° gedreht, dann kommt eine Fehlermeldung.

Tatsächlich ist das kein Fehler.
Steckdosen haben durch L (Phase), N (Neutral) und PE (Erde) immer zwei mögliche Steckrichtungen (180° gedreht).
Je nach Position zeigt der Tester:
🔵 1 Lampe → L/N vertauscht, Erdung vorhanden
🟢 3 Lampen → Alles korrekt
Beide Zustände sind normal und bedeuten: Die Erdung ist vorhanden.

danke für deine Nachricht.
Es gibt zwei korrekte Möglichkeiten, wie der Steckdosentester auf eine funktionierende Erdung reagieren kann. Das hängt davon ab, wie die Steckdose intern verdrahtet ist – also ob Phase und Neutralleiter vertauscht wurden oder nicht (was technisch kein Fehler ist und in vielen Haushalten vorkommt).
Variante 1: 1 Lämpchen leuchtet → Steckdose korrekt angeschlossen, Erdung vorhanden
Variante 2: Drei Lämpchen leuchten → Steckdose ebenfalls korrekt, nur Phase & Neutralleiter vertauscht
—> du kannst es selbst gerne testen, stecke den Steckdosentester einfach 180 Grad verkehrt ein, dann leuchten alle 3 Lampen.
Auch kannst du alle Steckdosen bei dir im Haus testen, da kann es dann auch vorkommen dass die Lampen bei der einen Steckdose wie Variante 1 leuchtet oder Variante 3.

Ganz ok, allerdings fehlt die Erklärung zu den Leuchten, die muss man sich aus dem Internet ziehen…
Hallo Gabriele, die Erklärung zu den Leuchten findet man direkt am Stecker. Lt. Foto ist bei dir der Aufkleber am Stecker für die Niederlande geklebt. Es liegt aber auch ein Sticker in deutscher Sprache bei.
Auf jeden Fall ist die Erdung bei dieser Steckdose in Ordnung. Wenn du den Steckdosentester jetzt 180 Grad verkehrt einsteckst, leuchten alle 3 Lampen, auch dies zeigt, dass die Erdung in Ordnung ist.

Ist top das Ding. So kann man vorher Nummer sicher gehen dass die Steckdosen anständig verkabelt sind bevor man das Geld in die Hand nimmt für ein Teueres Laken das dann die Funktion nicht gewährleistet. So kann ich auch in meinem Freundeskreis kurz checken ob sich’s lohnt.

Grounding is new to me. Which product is best to start with?
Most people start with a grounding sheet: you use it for many hours every night without changing anything about your routine. For your workspace there is also the grounding mat. Before plugging in for the first time, a quick check with the socket tester is worthwhile.
Does electricity flow as soon as I plug Wurzler™ products into the socket?
No. A socket quickly makes you think of electricity, danger or extra costs. That's why we explain it clearly.
For the grounding function, the products are connected to the socket's earth contact using the cord and plug provided. The pins that would normally carry current are made of plastic and do not conduct. Wurzler™ products use no electricity and cause no additional costs. They simply create a connection between the product and the earth.
Is the Wurzler™ Mat also suitable for bed?
The Wurzler™ mat is designed as a desk mat for your mouse and keyboard or as a mat for your feet under the desk. We don't recommend using the mat in bed, as it is not breathable. For grounded sleep, we recommend a Wurzler™ grounding sheet.
