Many of us spend most of the day at a desk – insulated by shoes, office chair and flooring. A grounding mat brings grounding to your workplace without any extra effort. Here is how to use it sensibly at the office and in your home office.
What is a grounding mat?
A grounding mat is a conductive pad that is connected via a cable to the earth contact of a grounded wall socket. The Wurzler™ grounding mat measures 85 × 40 cm, has a conductive surface made of PU with graphene and a non-slip rubber underside. No current flows and no energy is used.
Option 1: as a desk pad
Place the mat on your desk so that your keyboard and mouse fit on it. Your forearms and the heels of your hands automatically rest on the mat while you type – without you having to think about it.
Option 2: under the desk for your feet
Under the desk you use the mat for your feet. The contact is most conductive barefoot. If you wear socks, socks with silver threads are suitable – normal cotton or synthetic socks usually do not conduct.
Connecting it at your workplace
- Attach the cable to the mat's press stud.
- Plug the grounding plug into a correctly grounded socket – you can check this with a socket tester.
- For a tidy desk we recommend a stretchable coiled cable.
Also for the sofa, reading chair and yoga
The mat is light and quickly moved: in the evening under your feet on the sofa, while reading or meditating. For yoga and Pilates there is the larger grounding yoga mat.
Care
Simply wipe with a damp cloth. Avoid harsh cleaners so that the conductive surface lasts a long time.
